The Blended Family, Or, I Can't Quite Put My Finger On it

I'm going to post a few times about last weekend, but I'll start with the real show-stopper.

Jen blended her finger while making baby food.

This episode touches on a problem we wrestled with here at the DailyGraham: Are we bad parents if we buy the canned baby food? Is meal preparation as easy as the freak who wrote Super Baby Food says it is? I guess now we know the answer to that one. No, it isn't easy to make sweet potato puree, because you might need to clean the stringy stuff out of the blade of your immersion blender and you might accidentally hit the trigger, and you might BLEED all over the place, getting blood into the grout on your new kitchen floor. Then you might dilly-dally for 20 minutes while your wife Googles word strings like "cuts" "emergency room" "necessary." Then you might need to troupe en masse (Jen, Whitney, Uncle Ryan, G) to the ER, where the attending nurse will ask incredulously, "you blended your finger?" I think Jen has heard that question and that tone dozens of times.

Anyway, yeah, Jen blended her finger. She's fine, but it looks pretty bad ass, pretty Freddy Krueger style. Oh, and please send more goofy puns to top those with which I titled this post along with get well wishes.

Jen, I'm so sorry! But I bet it's a kick ass prop in the classroom. Nothing like a little street cred with the kids.

Damn, Gina! That is a terrible story. Please be careful with yourself, and don't let that happen again, and if it does happen, please don't tell me about it. I'm kind of squeamish.

Also, the Super Food book is Super Weird. I'm inspired by its inventions in the key of flaxseed, and completely flabbergasted by sentences such as "I don't feel that it's safe to have meat in my kitchen, or in my home." WTF, mate?
